  • Holy Week Choir

    NEW CHOIR for HOLY WEEK being formed. Are you interested in singing in a big group? Well, St. Mary’s of Pella and Oskaloosa will be forming a choir for Holy Week. Rehearsals for Pella will begin Wednesday, February 25th at 6:30 p.m. Please call Lynn Cooper at 780-0901 for additional information.


  • Knights vs Squires Bowling

    Knights vs. Squires Bowling. Friday, February 6th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Excite-A-Bowl. Come celebrate Columbian Squires 10 year anniversary! Free bowling and pizza courtesy of the Knights of Columbus. Board games for the non-bowlers. All young men 10-18 years old are invited. Moms and dads are welcome but not required. Interested in joining the Knights of Columbus or Squires but can’t attend bowling? Contact Mike Linde or Brian Huddle.


  • Feed the Hungry

    Feeding the Hungry:As a parish, we will be making, delivering and serving a meal on the second Saturday of each month. This meal will feed approximately 70 people in need at the Catholic Worker House (CWH) in Des Moines.

    There are so many ways to help with this service: donate food, prepare the food on Saturday morning at church, deliver the food to the CWH in time for noon lunch, serve the food from 12:00 – 2:00 at the CWH, donate plastic containers and plastic bags for take-home meals.

    Our first opportunity is February 14. There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk outlining the menu items, time frame, and details about the experience.

  • 24-hour Prayer Vigil

    St. Mary’s Annual 24-Hour Prayer Vigil is scheduled for Feb 6 and Feb 7.

    During this special time, we will be praying for each family of our parish. Our journey begins with Friday morning Mass and ends with 8:30 a.m. Mass on Saturday.

    Breakfast will be served immediately following Saturday mass. ALL ARE WELCOME. Throughout this 24 hour period, we need your help in praying for our church family. The family names of our parish will be announced every 30 minutes during the vigil. By Saturday morning, each family will be prayed for during this time.

    Prayer shifts are available in 30 minute increments for as long as you desire. Sign-up sheets are located in the back of the church.

  • MS/HS Ice Skating

    MS/HS Ice Skating at Brenton Plaza in Des Moines!!

    Come and join in the fun. On Saturday, February 7th meet at the old church at 5:00 p.m. for pizza. We will leave around 6:00 p.m. to go skating and arrive back at the old church at approximately 9:00 p.m. Permission and medical forms are available outside the Religious Education Office.


  • 7th Annual Spring into Auction

    St. Mary’s 7th Annual Spring Into Auction will be held Saturday, February 28th  at the Graham Conference Center, Central College. 

    Doors open at 5:30pm with Dinner served at 7:00 pm.  Open to the public.  Adults only.

    Tickets are $28 per person.  They will be available following Masses starting the weekend of January 17/18 or by calling St. Mary’s church office at 628.3078.

    Raffle/Auction Information – Silent and Live Auctions. To view the list of items, Click HERE and click on “catalog.”   Check back often as we are adding new items!

    Silent Auction Donations – Please consider sharing a talent or gift you have to the Silent Auction. The donation slips will be at the ticket table or in the church foyer. Please pick up a slip this weekend. A marked box will be under the coat rack for you to place your items in. Donation deadline is February 22.


  • Parish Mission

     - Mark Your Calendars -

    January 25, 26, 27, 28 AT 7:00 pm.

    Our guest speaker is Fr. Victor Karls, C.Ss.R., a Redemptorist priest from Liguori, Missouri. Each night, Fr. Karls will explore a different topic.

    All the members of St. Mary’s in Pella are encouraged to participate in this Parish Mission. Indeed, all Christians in the area are invited to attend any or all of the Parish Mission. Invite someone to come with you!

  • KC Spelling Bee

    The Knights of Columbus will be holding its annual spelling bee on Thursday, January 29 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church for all students in grades 4 through 7. Entry forms can be picked up at school. Contact Alan Dole at 628-4686 or Brian Huddle at 628-8988 for further details.


  • Volunteer Opportunity

    Looking for something fun to do “indoors” this winter?

    Then volunteer at The Well Thrift Store! If you would like to sort, size, tag, organize or paint….please give us a call at 641-628-3333 or 641-628-0164.

    Both individual and small group opportunities are available. The store is open to the public Thursday – Saturday from 10:00 – 4:30 p.m.

    Also, The Well Resource Center is expanding service hours. The office will be open Mondays from Noon – 8:00 p.m., Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:00 – 3:00 p.m. and Fridays from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
